Providing a range of co-curricular opportunities is important to us because we value each child’s individual skills and interests, and we want to give every opportunity for students to grow and further their potential.

As we believe that the most effective way to educate children is through a holistic approach, we have many external providers to make sure that every child has an opportunity to develop their skills and potential. Students are encouraged to participate in a number of optional interschool activities, including debating, CaSPA and sport.

Debating promotes co-operation, critical thinking, communication and research skills. It increases student’s self-confidence and awareness of social and environmental issues within a team environment. Students in Years 5 and 6 take part in our school based debating program and Catholic Schools’ Debating Program.

Performing Arts

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Riverwood’s students are encouraged to take part in the Archdiocesan Performing Arts Festivals. Students can join the choir and dance ensemble; those with particular talents have the opportunity to join the specialist ensemble of singers, musicians and dancers.

Sports and Recreation

Students are provided opportunities to compete at school, cluster, regional and Archdiocesan levels, in addition to Gala Days, State and National events. Students can represent the school at inter-school sporting events for swimming, athletics, cross country, cricket, netball, basketball, rugby league, oz-tag, soccer and tennis.
